Time for a change

So I'm almost certain that where I am located, dwelling, work etc. has a direct affect on my mood. I am completely and utterly over my living "situation" and need to be out of this physical space by December 2011. I must. I can't do it. I may just be telling myself that I won't be able to last another year in the same place but I certainly feel completely deflated(crushed spirit) when I think about leaving the same place every morning and coming to the space every night. I am completely over it!

OVER IT.

So instead of making this a complete woe is me post. I will query the world wide web and readers of this post. New York City apartment hunting.

How do you manage?

Any great Realty agencies? Any wonderful Craigslist.com finds?

Attended the IBS(International Beauty Show) at the Jacob Javits Center on March 8,2011. In attendance where CHI Farouk,Alfaparaf, Argan Morrocan oil and tons of other vendors(check tags below). The vibe was very mellow a relaxed exhibition of beauty industry talent ranging from waxing,cosmetics to hair tools machinery, and the latest in hair techniques. There was a designated area for classes for beauticians and a bustling main floor full of exhibitors with new and long standing product lines for sale and demonstration. The Bronner Brothers productline NuExpression was on site and had the most friendly gentleman peddling thier products.

Dear blog/diary,

Today is proving to be super unproductive. I have pulled my credit score on http://www.annualcreditreport.com/ and to be 100% honest although I am not surprised by the results I am soooo upset mostly with myself . My outstanding debt ladies and gentlemen attributed to an 4month unemployment stint after being laid off 6 months after graduation in 2008. Then starting to temp for an agency that clearly believes its not cruel and unusual punishment to charge clients(my employer) 29.00/hr for my work and pay me 16.00/hr wages. Grand! Unable to pay rent,and the monthly installments on my private loans they are reported on my credit report the grand total $69,559.00 pardon my French, but what the F*c#!. No shoes, cars and irresponsible spending insight purely debt for an investment in myself. WOMP WOMP WOMP. For every highschool student who may see this it is imperative for your to be selective about your schooling and be on top of where you monies will come from to fund your time there. IMPERATIVE!!!Yes,yes I signed every promissory note and have all the copies of my idiocy recorded in a neat filing cabinet stashed and my families home. But the reality is I attended school for several reasons and one was to certainly increase my earning potential surely to surpass the 18 year old who chose not to attend any school after High School or GED. Merci beaucoup life!!!!!

I'm irritated / desperate for advice and assistance with paying down this debt so that I may continue to pursue my original plan which is to attend law school . Oh wait another conundrum am I confident that the investment of an additional $100,000 in law school student loans in the answer to my problems? UGHHHHH lol it isss I want and need to do this, I am secretly talking myself into a Suze Orman segment on the OWN . Am I the only fool going through this, fool maybe person no. There have to be more out there. Who's with me? Who wants to change this thing for the better.

As a matter of fact I think , I know that it is imperative that the liberal arts majors in the world shouldn't just switch to finance or the medical field just because. We still need poltical thinkers, analytics who have wide range of abilities and transferrable skillsets to adress the world's problems. Who's with me??????

New York City Off-Track Betting Corporation Shut Down/Employees lose Income to bring in the New Year

On December 8, 2010 New York State Senators were charged with the responsiblity of passing legislation that would keep New York City Off Track Betting open for business generating upwards of 1 million dollars in handle ( profit) to be designated to state entities, help to cushion the NYS budget deficit.

The larger part of this story as , much like any news involving removing a business entity that employees nearly 1,000 employees is the fact that workers have been displaced, with very little in the way of support to transition into the job market.

As unfortunate as this has been I intend to be in contact with the political leadership responsible for this major FAIL!!!! and I certainly will find out how their respective offices plan to support their constitutents through this transisiton to job hunting.

Not so lazy Sunday Rant

So today is launch day . I have decided to make all efforts to get my business cards templated, color schemes narrowed down and make the necessary steps to implement a five step plan to launching one of my business ventures for the fall of 2010.

It seems that I have been chosen as the go to gal for random bits of information. I've been known to help with those close friends and family members who need a bit of help organizing some personal errands that often require extra time. Small household filing projects, to finding out information about grants bunch of stuff..... So sometimes I get a bit of a thank you fee and I realized why not let people know that I can and will help them with their projects. Lost 28 lbs and gained the majority of it back!!!!!!

So it has been a while since I have posted a piece on this here blog. But the truth is I have been enjoying my summer 2010. Thank GOD from 25th Birthday shenanigans to family gatherings, I have been super busy dancing and EATING.... :(

I was able to lose 28lbs. without a gym membership but through simply eliminating carbs for six days of the week and consuming only natural sugars via fruits and vegetables in super moderation. I also had half of a grapefruit after every meal, even a snack. Then I would walk to Union square or to Brooklyn from Midtown Manhattan. lol the difficulty with remaining consistent came when I had to volunteer on a political campaign and got stuck for an additional 5 hrs a day behind a desk making phone calls. But that's alright lesson learned.

The reality is now I know I can do it and making excuses won't get me anywhere but 50 lbs. heavier. I have indulged for far too long and it is showing in more ways than one. It is September 5, 2010 and I will be on another challenge. 25 by the 25th of October.

okay guys Productive day . yipeee . I had such wonderful time today . It is absolutely gorgeous outside. I love it. ahhhhhhhh got caught up on some much needed filing, a nice lunch with my co-worker thanks for draggin me to Bryant park I enjoyed every second of it. Off to happy hour with my ex bf lol he's a great friend now. But yes happy hour then a bit of dancing. I'm so excited. yippee. alright Big apple not so bad.

Exercise update. started Shaun T's Insanity workout this morning. OMG I am soooo out of shape. But I am proud of me I hung in there and grunted my way through the entire fit test. whooo. I'll do a detailed post about all of that later on this weekend, but right now I must figure out what to do with this hair. .....must look excellent for the happy hour lol. Ciao!

Your girl enjoyed some great fresh "live not raw food" last night. The recipe courtesy of the yabbapot lady....I don't know her name but I subscribed to her channel on the ole youtubeski and found some yummy lovely recipes that may help me on my road to a cleaner eating lifestyle change. Royal seaweed salad. The salad was just divine!

I happened to have some of the ingredients in the pantry. What an amazing taste the flavors are complex but compliment one another very well. I bought a small container of sesame seed oil to flavor and what a treat it turned out to be.

Weather appreciation

Thanks to the snowstorm , I got to hang with a great college friend for the evening we caught up laughed alot and talked about weight and how we both want healthy happy lifestyles. GRRRREEEEAAAATT partners in change. And the best part is I noticed that I'm not as negative about my weight as I used to be (ahhhhhmazing).

Goal is a healthy BMI of 23.2 can be a little less but certainly not more.
If I can maintain optimal health for the rest of my life barring any genetic maladies I can't myself detect, then I will be content and at peace with meee.

Health is Wealth and I won't be a statistic . No thank you Mr. Diabetes, take a hike Hypertension I'll pass. I will be healthy I will be the best me I can be at the very least I'm not wasting valuable shoe shopping dollars on meds for ailments I can prevent. No no i'm not forcing myself to be thin for pictures, weddings, blah blah blah . This is my gift to me . I most certainly must be in the best shape for me and prayerfully for my family I will be blessed with. (see post on vision board coming up soon)

I am so excited about this newfound sense of focuseI've been having for the past two weeks. Prayers being answered . Feeling reenergized and ready for the world.

I am writing this blogpost for accountability reasons and as a venting platform. I am a college graduate working at a JOB (Just Over Broke) and I won't let myself slip further into complacency. There is so much to be done. Elections to volunteer on . I have a zillion ideas floating around this brain and someone is going to listen. Okay they may not want to listen but, I will be sure to share anyway.

What a waste of money you all are . In January of this year (2009) I decided to rent out a family home /my childhood home. After a series of interviews and a bout with a not so suprising untruthful realtor. The home was fully occupied , relatives on one floor tenant/roommates on the other. Awesome deal done whooo!

Premature celebratory mood.

My Buffalo sous-sol happened to decide that everything under the sun would irk it and have it in the most terrible of moods. Which I could live with some people can be moody and miserable who cares pay your rent and I'd be fine. But of course it didn't. Buffalo decides to pay what it can when it wants and also demand repairs . lol ? BUFFALO can we say LEAVE.

On to the relatives ....So you're just going to live here and not pay rent and theeeen as if thats not insulting also have public Ali vs. Fraiser fights in the front yard. aaaaaad SCENE you need to leave too.

lASTLY , ilk smelling tenant please clean and febreeze your iiiillllk.

But now that all the antics have played themselves out the decision is to part ways with the circus and now to battle the exponentially insane rent prices and brokers fees to live in a rat trap and or toilet.

Why is everyone posting apartments on Craigslist.com via Brokers . Brokers don't save you time and have no obligation to assist you after they put tenants in your home. So don't waste your time with them. And as a renter seeking a house you pay them at least a months rent for crap you would be able to find on your own had they not blocked acccess to that info.

Transitioning from Relaxed to Natural

It has been three months since my last relaxer and I haven't a clue how to manage my hair without blowing it straight or curling up with a hot iron or flat iron.

I have however come across a wonderful cholesterol conditioner Tea tree cholesterol from organics it boasts the versatility of being a traditional conditioner as well as a leave -in if you only use a quarter sized dollop after washing the hair . I washed last night with the intentions of trying a Bantu Knot style but it was 1am lol and I decided to put a little olive oil hair polisher lightly through the damp hair finish writing a paper and went to bed once the two textured mane had finally air dried. My hair feels alot better after this deep conditioning session but lol......style wise I had to go with pulling it back loosely and throwing on a cute brown head band.

Hair health and feel ..... score of 10
Aesthetic beauty after air dry lol ...... not so much .

After work i'll go work out... spritz with a little infusium and water to liven it all up again detangle and Bantu knot ...for real this time.

we shall see.

In a weird space lately. Moved back to Brooklyn NY in January this year and I have found it exceedingly difficult to find any gal pals to run the city with. :( No I am not close to my H.S friends as for whatever reason we all fell apart not that we'd been extra close to begin with. And of course I've only had co-workers who are so disgusted with their jobs that anything that reminds them about work after the obligatory 9 to 5 hours causes havoc on their psyches and they must retreat .

So its me and the shih tzu together as usual. Hanging out and walking around . I socialize with people I meet but I guess its rather tres taboo to exchange numbers with a female peer you aren't trying to come on to. ....Hmmmm

I sometimes wonder if I would simply throw rationale to the wind and say what is exactly on my mind if I would be better received by people. I am on a landlord journey taking over the responsiblity of a family home and it is at the very least exhausting on a daily basis.

Why I wonder would anyone choose to renegotiate a signed notarized lease? Why would anyone attempt to swindle there way out of timely rental payments if that is all that is required of them? Why would anyone choose to find flaws in what they have willing accepted as sufficient.

I am searching for clarity on these issues as it is driving me up the walls. What the hell is wrong with these people?

Beautiful Beautiful Wonderful lovely lovely.

Thank You Cantello for the awesome hint tinted moisturizer in shade 4 . Just received my shipment and I am so excited that the quality of this product hasn't diminished since I tried it two years ago. This is an awesome alternative to the makeup , sticks, liquid foundations and heavier makeup choices out there for women. The formula is light and I find best if applied immediately after washing the face and using mild toner( the timing matters as moisturizers with spf in them tend to sit on closed pores rather than easily blend into the skin. I am not blemish free but the hint tinted moisturizer does provide nearly total coverae without giving the, over the top makeupy plastered look that can happen with a mildly overzealous application of liquid then powder foundation.

Let us not be derailed by harbouring an antagonistic view of what we have seen of the First Lady's hairstyle choices. What she has sported thus far has flattered her face, overall style and is consistent with the Mrs. Obama we are used to seeing. As an icon of style , grace and a revival of the beautiful nubian ( lady) woman I think the collective hairstyle choices are indeed appropriate and truly african american in their interpretation. Are we revoking her (african-american/black card) because of the absence of cornrows, locks, or a fro.

The press released about the first lady's style is indicative of the power of iconic titleship and how not only Mrs. Obama owns her style but is clearly changing the face of the view of African American and female politicians.

She is clearly saying, despite her choice of an off the shoulder brilliantly colored blouse vs. a white button up blouse with a knit cover-up the intellect is not bled through the colors the wit and compassion and commitment to her purpose as first lady. She has never once in her time in the white house been shaken. Trivial it seems to me to bog down press with colors of her nail polish and delve into seven page articles inundated with deletorious language and quips aimed at making a hypocrite of Mrs. Obama.

Maybe its just me but since when did entry-level mean seven years experience.
Is this the beauty of graduating whilst trying to maintain a stellar G.P.A meaning no real experience and then getting slapped with the intense eye opener that any position entry level will not accept your G.P.A as a get out of jail free card. One must demonstrate several years of experience. Sad but true.

I would like to take a moment to thank the lovely young man in H&M on chestnut st. in Center City Philadelphia. I thank you for taking the time to make it clear to me that I am not fit for all fashions but I am only fit for those meant to flatter the Apple shaped young ladies of which their aren't many.
Thank you for taking the time out from trying on your size 8 plaid shirt with bedazzled studs on the lapels to take from me the brief moment of serenity shopping can give after a long day .

Thank you forever will I remember that my rotund waistline is that of an apple resemblence and that apples needn't be preoccupied with trends , but should be spending my time looking for the blacks and the dark colored camoflauge wonders offered in the plus size sections of most department store.
